The centerpiece of this state park is the reconstructed Fort Loudoun, built in 1756 during the French and Indian War to guard against the French from the west. Although the fort fell in 1760, visitors can see the layout of the fort and learn more about the history of the fort in the on-site Visitor Center and its museum. Other activities to pursue at the park include boating and fishing on Tellico Lake and hiking along the island's five miles of trails. The fort is located 34 miles south of Knoxville, on an island, near the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore.
Open daily 8:00 a.m. - sunset.
